Masha Feschenko. Fabulous trip to Bohuslav

In my travelog you can visit a magic and ancient town Bohuslav, that is in Kyiv region.

Bohuslav is one of the oldest towns of Kyivshchyna. it was found by a prince Yaroslav of Wise in 1032 . Therefore a monument to the respected prince is set up in the centre of town.

The real name according to the legend after that as the raid of nomads was removed from the south borders of Kyiv Rus, all glorified the prince Yaroslav of Wise. In reply a prince said, "Thanks God!"("Bohu slava!") and ordered to build on the left bank of the river Ros the city-fortress, it was adopted Bohuslav.

The first mention about a settlement at a chronicle ,as a fortress for defense against polovtsi is dated 1195. In 1240 Bohuslav was destroyed by Mongol-Tartar hordes.

From 1362 Bohuslav was the part of the Great duchy Lithuanian, and then after Union of Lublin in1569 was a part of Rech Pospolyta. In 1589 the Polish king gave town as property to Yanosh Ostrozky. A prince fortified the castle , and residents were given significant privileges. In 1620 town received Magdeburg Law. Around the same time Cossack regiment was formed, which with varying success existed to 1712. The regiment became famous in 1702 when the led by Samiylo Samus supported the uprising of Semen Paly.

But the contemporaries Bohuslav is better known for its legendary native, folk heroine thoughts of Marusya Bohuslavka. During one of the raids of Tartar she got into captivity and found herself in the harem of the Turkish sultan. Somehow Marusya got the keys of the jail and released on the will a few hundred Cossacks slaves. Today the monument to Marusya Bohuslavka is situated in the town centre on the bank of the river Ros.

Also, in Bohuslav were celebrities: in 1861 was teaching a famous writer Ivan Nechuy-Levitsky. In the years 1886-1893 the village Hohitva near Bohuslav lived a writer Marco Vovchok (a little house of Marco Vovchok became a museum in Bohuslav). Currently, there is a museum of Ivan Soshenko in town. Bohuslav is town of history, the clergy, churches and prominent individuals. Before Taras Shevchenko wrote about Bohuslav: "It was my first meeting with the great town of churches and different peple, that gathered for huge trade". Acquaintance with Bohuslav doesn`t leave anyone indifferent. Don`t pass by attention cultural and recreational places of town.

In Bohuslav you can visit such wonders as Bohuslavska stone house (which today is a museum of contemporary crafts and decorative art), Trinity Orthodox church of St. Nicholas Monastery, Museum of Bohuslavschyna History where you can know more about the fascinating history of the past of this region . In the valley of the river Ros on its slopes spectacular scattered granite boulders that have grown in the ground. Their age is not less than 2 billion. years. And in the place, where Ros washes the granite island with two branches , picturesque rapids are formed. One of these locals is called "The Pit." In addition to the rich history of town, Bohuslav worth visiting for spiritual attainment of power. Mountain Totoha in Medvyn, "Boguslavsky district" is the energy center of Ukraine. Analogue Totoha is in the Altai, on the lake Baikal and in Tibet.
